Fig 16-13 A newborn human left scapula (anterior view) is compared to a raccoon’s left scapula (medial view). Both are oriented as they would be in a human skeleton. Although the shapes of the two scapulae are similar, the prominent acromion process (arrow) is visible from the anterior view of the human scapula but not that of the raccoon.
